I found another good story.........
The story begins like this...
'How long will you be poring over that newspaper? Will you come here right away and make your darling daughter eat her food?'
I tossed the paper away and rushed to the scene. My only daughter Sindu looked frightened. Tears were welling up in her eyes. In front of her was a bowl filled to its brim with Curd Rice.
Sindu is a nice child, quite intelligent for her age. She has just turned eight. She particularly detested Curd Rice. My mother and my wife are orthodox, and believe firmly in the 'cooling effects' of Curd Rice!
I cleared my throat, and picked up the bowl. "Sindu, darling, why don't you take a few mouthful of this Curd Rice? Just for Dad's sake, dear. And, if you don't, your Mom will shout at me.'
I could sense my wife's scowl behind my back. Sindu softened a bit, and wiped her tears with the back of her hands. 'OK, Dad. I will eat - not just a few mouthfuls, but the whole lot of this. But, you should...' Sindu hesitated. 'Dad, if I eat this entire Curd Rice, will you give me whatever I ask for?'
'Oh sure, darling'.
'Promise?'
'Promise'. I covered the pink soft hand extended by my daughter with mine, and clinched the deal.
'Ask Mom also to give a similar promise', my daughter insisted. My wife slapped her hand on sindu's, muttering 'Promise', without any emotion.
Now I became a bit anxious. 'Sindumma, you shouldn't insist on getting a computer or any such expensive items. Dad does not have that kind of money right now. OK?'
'No, Dad. I do not want anything expensive'. Slowly and painfully, she finished eating the whole quantity. I was silently angry with my wife and my mother for forcing my child eat something that she detested.
After the ordeal was through, Sindu came to me with her eyes wide with expectation. All our attention was on her. 'Dad, I want to have my head shaved off, this Sunday!' was her demand!
'Atrocious!' shouted my wife, 'a girl child having her head shaved off? Impossible!'.
'Never in our family!' my mother rasped. 'She has been watching too much of television. Our culture is getting totally spoiled with these TV programs!'
'Sindumma, why don't you ask for something else? We will be sad seeing you with a clean-shaven head.'
'No, Dad. I do not want anything else', Sindu said with finality.
'Please, Sindu, why don't you try to understand our feelings?' I tried to plead with her.
'Dad, you saw how difficult it was for me to eat that Curd Rice'. Sindu was in tears. 'And you promised to grant me whatever I ask for. Now, you are going back on your words. Was it not you who told me the story of King Harishchandra, and its moral that we should honour our promises no matter what?'
It was time for me to call the shots. 'Our promise must be kept.'
'Are you out your mind?' chorused my mother and wife.
'No. If we go back on our promises, she will never learn to honour her own. Sindu, your wish will be fulfilled.'
With her head clean-shaven, Sindu had a round-face, and her eyes looked big & beautiful.
On Monday morning, I dropped her at her school. It was a sight to watch my hairless Sindu walking towards her classroom. She turned around and waved. I waved back with a smile. Just then, a boy alighted from a car, and shouted, 'Sinduja, please wait for me!'
What struck me was the hairless head of that boy. 'May be, that is the in-stuff', I thought.
'Sir, your daughter Sinduja is great indeed!' Without introducing herself, a lady got out of the car, and continued, 'That boy who is walking along with your daughter is my son Harish. He is suffering from ... leukaemia.'
She paused to muffle her sobs. 'Harish could not attend the school for the whole of the last month. He lost all his hair due to the side effects of the chemotherapy. He refused to come back to school fearing the unintentional but cruel teasing of the schoolmates. Sinduja visited him last week, and promised him that she will take care of the teasing issue. But, I never imagined she would sacrifice her lovely hair for the sake of my son! Sir, you and your wife are blessed to have such a noble soul as your daughter.'
I stood transfixed. And then, I wept. 'My little Angel, will you grant me a boon? Should there be another birth for me, will you be my mother, and teach me what Love is?'
This is love and what we elders do fight for pitty issues........

The obstacle in Our Path -
Another GEM
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.
Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse
contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand.
Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Always remember those who serve -
This story came to me in an E-Mail.
It touched my heart....How many time we remember those who serve us...we always forget people...we become selfish...anyways Enjoy the story.
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked. "Fifty cents," replied the waitress. The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.
"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.
By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.
"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied
The little boy again counted his coins.
"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies.
You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

Tour to Tirupati
GOVINDA GO..........VINDA!!!
This is my travelogue for Tirupati Balaji. Everybody knows but still wants to reiterate the fact that the hardest part of Tirupati Balaji tour is ”Darshan”. I wanted to make life simpler for my beautiful(i need to tell her this word 10 times aday) wife and wonderful (100% mischievous) kid. So I opted for APTDC tour and the story begins:
We were told to report at 7:45 P.M. for a bus of 8 P.M. As always thanks to my hubby, we were right on time. Bus didn’t appear till 9 P.m. we were told all types of stories of bus malfunctioning, new bus coming and all that kind of crap. We got the bus at 9.15….whoops it was a non ac normal bus. I checked my ticket again I booked for Volvo AC...Something was very wrong.
We became witness of fighting in all possible languages Telugu, Hindi, English, Tamil etc….We were told that we have to travel in this bus only and while returning we will be provided a Volvo. I was thinking of cancellation of tour as our seats were 35-36 and it would be very difficult to travel in the bus provided. We saw some people canceling the tickets…They were right in their sense…we were not told earlier about the bus, bus was already late by 2 hours and Tirupati Darshan is not a joke it take good blend of patience , mental and physical strength. There some flow of sentiments …why to cancel a tour which started with name of Lord. I had no answer for wife's argument and we eventually agreed to travel. I played a smart game and got our seat numbers reshuffled for front seats. At last we departed for Tirupati chanting Govinda………… Go vinda with 21 seats in a bus of 36 seat capacity.
I got a spare seat and tried to sleep there and I slept with my kid. You must be thinking ok all miseries over and tour will reach Tirupati….wait there is a surprise packet. In broad daylight our bus driver forgot the route thrice can you believe this they sent a driver on tour that has never been to Tirupati before…... Great… keep it up APTDC.
We stopped at a normal bus depot with no good basic amenities. Bus driver told us there is no good restaurant nearby and voila…..after 10 minutes when we left that bus stand we got a good looking APTDC restaurant .We can’t blame the poor bus driver who was driving first time to Tirupati but certainly we can blame APTDC who didn’t train their drivers.
And then we reched to Tirupati and then no error , good food and good darshan…..really Govinda is govinda……..

Author Sidney Sheldon
Sidney is my favourite writer. He created magic all the times.
Famous Quote:
"I like to write about women who are talented and capable, but who retain their femininity"
A great writer who wrote the books which make you think about success and stories behind that.
today i was looking at the net to find out when i am getting other good book from him and i found out he died on 30 Jan. how ignorant of me.......

Movie or Novel !!!
Everybody must have thought once about this topic. What was good the novel or the movie based on the novel....
I have a definite view on this...it is basically person's' own choice what medium excites him. I like novel better then movie. You have liberty to develop the character in the novel and it is very tough in time bound mode of movie. You can draw any type of plot in the novel, can talk about things in great detail which is really tough in movie. At the same time movie can show how beautiful person can be, how much show up you can do....
But can you beat anything like dream..person will read, think and then dream all at same time in the novel and that what counts....
I was thinking all this while reading "Disclosure " from Michael Crichton. http://www.michaelcrichton.net/

Golden period
Golden period is the period when you doing courtship or you got engaged and marriage is still away. This period is great as it gives you plenty of time to understand the other person as well as great time to exchange Gifts and cards....
